Hi, I'm the Reading Specialist at CMS and I'm very happy to be your child's Reading teacher this year. This is my first year at Colchester Middle School.
Previously, I was the Reading Specialist at Milton Jr. High/ Middle School and Williamstown Elementary School. This year I plan to focus on the areas of reading fluency, comprehension and word study. My goal is for your child to become a better reader than they were when the year began.

Fluency - drills and repeated reading activities

All students in my class start the year with an A, if they complete all work assigned and they master the skills, they will keep the A.
|
We look at NECAP and STAR Reader scores along with teacher recommendations to determine eligibility. Additionally, I will also administer one-on-one a fluency benchmark assessment and an informal reading inventory (QRI-4) to see where their area of weakness is. With all that information we determine whether a child would benefit from being in a reading class.
